In this guide
Chelsea and Knightsbridge share a postcode reputation and not much else. Knightsbridge is the busy half: Harrods, Hyde Park and the grand hotels on the main road, with the Piccadilly line running straight to Heathrow. Chelsea is the quiet half: garden squares, townhouse hotels of 14 to 56 rooms, and Sloane Square station at the top of the King’s Road. The South Kensington museums are a walk from either.
💡 The Short Version: For the lowest price, Zedwell Knightsbridgead is £89 to £257 for a windowless room for two. With a window, the Sloane Square Hotel sells small doubles from about £128 on the square itself. For a Chelsea townhouse, San Domenico Housead is about £240 and The Chelsea Townhousead about £260. For Sloane Street, The Cadoganad is about £450 and gives guests the key to Cadogan Place’s private gardens and tennis courts. For a pool, The Berkeley has an open-air one on its roof in spring and summer, and Bulgari a 25-metre one in its spa. With children, The Lanesboroughad has a butler for every room and splash hours in its spa pool. For a kitchen, Cheval runs apartments off Sloane Square and behind Harrods.
Which part of Chelsea and Knightsbridge
Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge is the main road along the south side of Hyde Park, with The Lanesborough, The Berkeley, Mandarin Oriental and Bulgari on it. Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge stations are both Piccadilly line.
Behind Harrods means Basil Street, Beaufort Gardens, Egerton Gardens and Cheval Place: residential streets of smaller hotels and apartments, five to eleven minutes from Knightsbridge station and nearer the V&A than the main road is.
Sloane Street and Cadogan Place run south from Knightsbridge to Sloane Square, with the designer shops and the private Cadogan Place gardens. The Cadogan, five minutes from both stations, and Jumeirah Carlton Tower are here.
Sloane Square and Cadogan Gardens is Chelsea proper: the Royal Court Theatre, the start of the King’s Road, and the townhouse hotels. Sloane Square is District and Circle, one stop from Victoria.
The hotels cluster at the eastern end. The western King’s Road and Chelsea Embankment have no Tube station; buses 11, 19, 22 and 49 run along the King’s Road. Our Chelsea area guide covers what to see and where to eat.

Common questions
Is Chelsea a good area to stay in London?
Yes, if you want quiet streets, the King's Road and the South Kensington museums within a walk, and can pay for it. Most hotels here are small townhouses or five-stars. The trade is the evening: Sloane Square's District and Circle lines stop overnight, so for a late night in the West End, stay near Knightsbridge or Hyde Park Corner, where the Piccadilly line runs all night on Fridays and Saturdays.
What is the cheapest place to stay in Chelsea or Knightsbridge?
Zedwell Knightsbridge, two minutes from Knightsbridge station, where a windowless 7-square-metre room for two costs £89 to £257 a night depending on the date. With a window, the Sloane Square Hotel sells small doubles from about £128 on its own site.
Which station is best for Chelsea and Knightsbridge hotels?
Sloane Square (District and Circle) for the hotels round the square and Cadogan Gardens; Knightsbridge (Piccadilly) for Harrods, Beaufort Gardens and Brompton Road; Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly) for The Lanesborough and The Berkeley. The Cadogan on Sloane Street is five minutes from both Sloane Square and Knightsbridge.
How do I get from Heathrow to Knightsbridge?
Take the Piccadilly line to Knightsbridge without changing; Zedwell puts the ride at about 40 to 45 minutes. For Sloane Square, stay on to Knightsbridge and walk down Sloane Street, or change at South Kensington for the District or Circle line to Sloane Square.
When is the Chelsea Flower Show in 2027?
18 to 22 May 2027 in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea: members' days on 18 and 19 May, public days from 20 to 22 May. RHS members' tickets go on sale on 19 October 2026 and public tickets on 21 October. Book the room when you book the tickets.
