Alley Cats Pizza
££The New York-style pizzeria that all three 2026 London lists name - eighteen-inch pies, Southern Italian ingredients, and a room that behaves like a Brooklyn slice joint rather than a trattoria.
Marylebone is the original; a second site sits at 342 King's Road, Chelsea. Despite the New York framing, the restaurants sell whole pies rather than slices - the Portobello Road site is the one adding a slice hatch.
AngloThai
££££Thai cooking built on British seasonal produce rather than imported substitutes - the idea is in the name and it earned a Michelin star.
Artesian
££££Four consecutive years as the best bar in the world in the 2010s, and still a room built for a long drink rather than a quick one.
Berut Bistro
££A small comfortable Lebanese room on Paddington Street - the neighbourhood version rather than the Edgware Road spectacle.
Carlotta
££Italian-American rather than Italian - pasta alla vodka and whole roasted fish, in a plush retro dining room on Marylebone High Street.
Cavita
££££Time Out's pick for the best Mexican in London - the tacos get the headlines but the point is the dishes nobody else in London cooks.
Clio
£££A 2026 opening on Chiltern Street, and the newest of the Marylebone Greek rooms.
Fairuz
£££A long-running Marylebone Lebanese where the mezze arrives in waves and nobody is rushed out.
Florencio
££A light, thin, crisp base from a 48-hour ferment, on a Seymour Place corner most pizza lists never reach.
Homeslice
££Twenty-inch pizzas sold whole or by the slice, with toppings split across halves. Built for groups rather than couples.
Multiple central branches; Neal's Yard is the original.
Ishtar
£££A long-running Marylebone Turkish room with a mezze list built for a table that wants to stay put.
Italian Greyhound
£££From the Open House Group founders; local-trattoria spirit in a more polished contemporary room.
Jikoni
£££Ravinder Bhogal cooks across her Kenyan, Indian and British background without picking one - Ottolenghi called it the restaurant he wished he had opened.
Kima
££££Whole fish and Greek seafood cooking treated at fine-dining level, which almost nothing else in London does.
Kol
££££Santiago Lastra cooks Mexican technique using British ingredients - no imported produce, which is the constraint the whole menu is built on.
L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele
££The London arm of the Naples institution founded in 1870, 28th in Europe in 2026. A very short menu, done the Naples way.
Naples-born chain; Baker Street is the branch named in the 2026 rankings.
L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele
££The London arm of the Naples institution founded in 1870, 28th in Europe in 2026. A very short menu, done the Naples way.
Naples-born chain; Baker Street is the branch named in the 2026 rankings.
Lina Stores
££The mint-green Brewer Street deli since 1944, now with restaurants attached.
Fresh pasta counter and deli; the restaurants came much later than the shop.
Lurra
££££Aged Galician beef and whole turbot over coals, from the Donostia team - the Basque asador format done properly.
Mour
£££All-day Mediterranean in Marylebone with a martini bar and a courtyard most people walking past would never know is there.
Nobu Portman Square
££££The newer of the two London Nobus and the calmer one - a hotel dining room rather than the Old Park Lane scene.
OPSO
£££Greek small plates reworked with restaurant technique - the room most responsible for London taking modern Greek cooking seriously.
Patogh
££A tiny room off Edgware Road where the flatbread comes out roughly the size of a sombrero and the kebabs are cooked over coals.
Royal China
£££A black-and-gold banquet hall on Baker Street where weekend dim sum runs at the volume of an airport terminal, and the queue is part of it.
No bookings at weekend lunch - the busiest dim sum service in London and it moves fast.
Sale e Pepe Mare
££££Ligurian coastal cooking at The Langham, carrying over the original Sale e Pepe's cacio e pepe finished tableside in a cheese wheel.
T by Tamara
££London's only fatteh bar, from Tamara Al Saadi - Palestinian and Jordanian cooking served as brunch, with the cakes doing serious work.
Taverna Ermou
££The London branch of a taverna from Ergon, the Athens food group: wooden beams, vintage ornaments, food on metal trays, and bougatsa custard pie with a freddo espresso for breakfast.
The Golden Hind
££A Marylebone chippy open since 1914, with the original art deco fryer still standing in the room.
The Langham
££££The Palm Court claims to be where the afternoon tea ritual began in the 1860s, and it is still the benchmark other hotel salons are measured against.
The Seashell of Lisson Grove
££On Lisson Grove since 1964 and frying since before the war - the chippy that draws a celebrity crowd without changing anything about itself.
TOKii
£££The dining room of a Japanese-run Marylebone hotel, which shows in the detail - and it serves a proper Japanese breakfast, which almost no London hotel does.
Trishna
£££Michelin-starred cooking from India's south-west coast, and the most-cited Indian restaurant in London across every guide we read.
Winter Garden
££££Afternoon tea taken on the floor of an eight-storey glass atrium among full-grown palm trees, with a pianist and a harpist playing - the most theatrical tea room in London that is not a palace.
The atrium is the reason to come. Reviews of the food itself are genuinely mixed for something over 70 pounds a head, so go for the room and judge it on that.
Workshop Coffee
£A roaster's shop where the filter list changes constantly and the staff will talk you through it if you want.
