Haidilao
£££The quieter of the two London Haidilaos, inside The O2 next to Nike and Costa. Same aprons, sauce bar and table-pulled noodles as the Trocadero, with a fraction of the queue on a night with nothing on at the arena.
Restaurant opens 11.30am daily, kitchen from 11am. Walk-ins are taken by phone number - staff text you when the table is ready rather than making you wait at the door.
Hullabaloo
£A permanent fixture in Greenwich Market rather than a rotating stall, doing vegetarian and vegan Indian street food.
Peninsula Restaurant
££££Floor-to-ceiling glass looking straight across the river at the Canary Wharf towers - the best dining-room view in southeast London and Michelin-recognised.
The Golden Chippy
££A Greenwich chip shop that built a large following on review sites rather than in the food press - fresh fish daily, thick hand-cut chips, and a proper sit-down room behind the counter.
Open 11:00-23:00 Monday to Saturday and 12:00-23:00 on Sundays and bank holidays, which is far later than most chippies. Eat in or take away. Halal preparation is available on request. A ten-minute walk from the Cutty Sark and the market.
The Trafalgar Tavern
££A Regency riverside tavern beside the Old Royal Naval College, historically famous for its whitebait dinners.
Sits directly on the Thames path between the Cutty Sark and the Naval College, so it fits into a Greenwich walk without a detour.
