For a quick meal, Lower Marsh behind Waterloo has independent cafés and casual restaurants. Avoid choosing solely from a photo menu beside the largest attractions.
Transport and airport fit
Westminster, Waterloo, Embankment, St James’s Park and Victoria provide multiple Tube lines. Victoria is useful for Gatwick/Southern trains and coaches; Waterloo serves southwest England.
Heavy events, protests and state occasions can close roads around Westminster. Use TfL status information and walk across the river when practical.

Start at Westminster Abbey, cross Westminster Bridge, follow the South Bank to Tate Modern and finish at Borough Market or London Bridge. Reverse it when an abbey entry slot dictates the morning.
